Sturt Football Club proudly congratulates triple premiership coach Martin Mattner on his appointment as SANFL’s West End State Coach for 2026.
A dual premiership coach with the Double Blues and one of the most respected leaders in South Australian football, Martin’s selection is a fitting recognition of his sustained success, professionalism and commitment to excellence at League level. His return to the State role – having previously coached the West End State team in 2018 – highlights the regard in which he is held across the competition.
Martin’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping Sturt’s culture, standards and sustained on-field performance. His ability to develop talent, build strong environments and deliver results on the biggest stage makes him exceptionally well placed to again lead the Croweaters with State pride on the line.
State football remains one of the great honours in the SANFL calendar, and 2026 promises to be a showcase year. The senior men’s and women’s State teams will headline a Gather Round triple-header at Stratarama Stadium on Saturday April 11, before travelling to Perth to face the WAFL and WAFLW on Saturday May 16.
From everyone at Sturt Football Club, we congratulate Martin on this prestigious appointment and look forward to seeing him represent South Australian football with the same passion, integrity and excellence he brings to the Double Blues every week.
