The Club advises that long term member and volunteer Graham Gobell has passed away aged 77 years.
Graham started volunteering for the Club in 1998 as a medical transport driver before assisting in the property department from 2002 through to 2015 when he retired to sit in the McKay Stand and watch his beloved Double Blues.
Graham was a humble man who cared deeply for those close to him. He would transport friend Joyce Cooper aged 96 to and from Sturt games and was distraught when she passed away only two weeks before his passing.
Doctors believe that Graham suffered his first heart attack on the way to the Sturt v North game at Prospect on 26 August. He was walking to Prospect Oval from his car when he started to feel unwell. He kept going and ended up watching the game however was admitted into hospital the next day. Sadly he passed away a day later.
Graham’s funeral will be held at Simplicity Funerals Anzac Highway Plympton on Wednesday 13 September at 2.00pm followed by a wake at Jack’s on Unley, 166 Unley Road. All are welcome to attend to remember this kind, humble man.
