It is with much sadness we advise that George Swingler passed away peacefully on Tuesday 6th September, 2022 at St. Basil’s Aegean Village, Christie Downs.
George was the Under 17’s & 19’s Timekeeper, then, Reserves Timekeeper between 1990 and 2015 before ‘handing over the reigns’ to current reserves timekeeper, Cathy Benfield. He also filled in as League Timekeeper on occasions when Chris Ward was absent. He then continued to watch the senior men play with his late wife, Janet, who also passed away on 17th November 2021, until age and ill health prevented them from attending. George was awarded Life Membership of the Sturt Football Club in 2005. He insisted that his framed life membership certificate was hung on the wall in his room at St. Basil’s Aegean Village.
Sadly, missed yet fondly remembered.
