In Memoriam: Scott McPherson

Sturt Football Club is saddened by the sudden passing of long-time member and devoted supporter Scott McPherson, who passed away on 15 December following a short illness.

Scott was the ultimate Sturt Football Club person. His presence was a constant at Unley Oval, Cornerstone College, Mt. Barker and Urrbrae Agricultural High School attending virtually every training session and match across our Senior Men’s, Women’s and Junior programs. Few embodied the spirit, loyalty and passion of the Double Blues as wholeheartedly as Scott did.

This year’s Senior Men’s premiership brought Scott immense joy. He proudly attended every celebration that followed, revelling in a moment.

In a moment that speaks volumes about the respect and affection Scott held within the Club, Senior Coach Marty Mattner called to check on Scott’s health the day before his passing, a gesture that reportedly brought Scott great happiness and meant the world to him and his family.

Scott’s love for Sturt Football Club was genuine, generous and infectious. He will be remembered not only for his loyalty, but for the warmth and enthusiasm he brought to everyone around him.

Scott’s funeral will be held on Friday, 9 January 2026, at 2.00pm, at Harrisons Funerals, Ridgehaven.

The thoughts of everyone at Sturt Football Club are with Scott’s family, friends and fellow supporters at this difficult time. Scott will forever remain part of the fabric of the Double Blues.
