North Adelaide vs Sturt

A great showing by our playing group but unfortunately we couldn’t hold our lead and lost the match by 7 points.
The Rooster’s started the match well with the opening 2 goals of the first quarter. We were able to reply with Jess Schulz scoring from a classy assist from Co-Captain Caitlyn Swanson. Shortly after Lauren Lovell scored our second and had us only trailing by 2 points at quarter time.
We started the second quarter well with our mid-field firing. Hannah Dreckow fought hard in the ruck and gave Georgia Bevan first use of the ball. Georgia ended with a match high 24 possessions for the Double Blues. Our forwards were able to capitalise and we scored the first 2 goals of the second through Caitlyn Swanson and Nicole Baker who returned for her first match for the season. North Adelaide finished the quarter with a goal, but we went in to halftime in front.
The third quarter was one to forget with North Adelaide being the better team and having the ball in their forward half for most of the quarter. Our defenders did well to hold North to only 3 goals, as it could have been worse. Unable to score, we lost the lead.
We went into the last quarter positive and believing we could win. We had repeat forward 50 entries with Lucy Griffith scoring a goal early. We continued to have the ball deep in our forward 50 but would only score a further 2 points and were defended well by North Adelaide who held on for the win.
We are back at Coopers Stadium this Friday at 7:45pm, taking on Norwood. See you there.
