Thank You, Will Snelling 💙
After three outstanding seasons in the Double Blue, Will Snelling’s time at Sturt comes to a close following the 2026 season due to him moving into a rural medical residency position as he continues his training to become a Doctor.
A Goodwood Saints junior, Will made his SANFL League debut for West Adelaide in 2015, playing in a Premiership in his first season before being selected by Port Adelaide in the 2016 AFL Rookie Draft. He later earned another opportunity at AFL level with Essendon, going on to play 65 AFL games.
Will joined Sturt ahead of the 2024 season and made an immediate impact, producing an incredible first year at Unley that included the Magarey Medal, P.T. Morton Medal, Players MVP Award, SANFL Now Player of the Year and Bob Quinn Medal, along with State selection and SANFL Team of the Year honours.
His contribution continued as a 2025 League Premiership Player, while also becoming an important member of Sturt’s leadership group and earning SANFL Team of the Year selection in each of his three seasons in the Double Blue.
Renowned for his toughness, work rate and ability to perform consistently at the highest level, Will set an outstanding standard both on and off the field.
🗣 Senior Coach Marty Mattner said:
“Will has had an enormous impact on our football club from the moment he arrived. His standards, his competitiveness and his ability to perform consistently at such a high level have made everyone around him better. “What he has been able to achieve while balancing football with his medical studies says so much about his character and commitment. To win a Magarey Medal, become a premiership player and establish himself as one of the leaders of our group in just three seasons is an incredible contribution.”
From SANFL Premiership Player to AFL footballer, Magarey Medallist and Sturt Premiership Player, Will has built an outstanding football career.
We thank Will Snelling for his leadership, professionalism and commitment to the Double Blue and wish him all the very best for what comes next.
Thank you, Snells 💙🩵
