Sturt Football Club is excited to announce the signing of Sturt junior product Ned Atkinson for the 2027 season. 💙🩵
Ned returns to Unley after spending the past two seasons in the Talent Development Transfer program with the Adelaide Crows’ SANFL but remained registered to Sturt.
Before making the move to West Lakes ahead of the 2025 season, Ned spent four seasons progressing through Sturt’s junior pathway and was also a captain at Sacred Heart College.
A versatile 182cm utility, Ned has now played 35 games at SANFL League level and has continued to develop his game through his time with Adelaide. His leadership was also recognised in 2026 when he was appointed captain of the South Australian Under 20 team.
Ned also has strong Double Blue connections through his father Brodie Atkinson, a former Sturt premiership player and Magarey Medallist who played more than 200 SANFL games across Sturt and North Adelaide.
Football Manager Geoff Riddle said 🗣️
“We’re really pleased to welcome Ned back to Sturt. He knows the Club, has come through our junior program and has continued to develop over the past two seasons at Adelaide. We’re looking forward to seeing what he can bring to our group in 2027,”
Welcome back to the Double Blues, Ned. 💙🩵
