Past Player Event – August 18

Calling all Sturt Past Players,

Following the success of last year’s event, Sturt Past Players will come together again Sunday 18th of August – Sturt vs Magpies at Peter Motley Oval, Unley.

This get together will be an annual event honouring the late Bob Marshall who tragically lost his life in the Bali bombings in 2002, replacing the annual cricket game.

Bob gave a huge amount of time and service to both clubs as player and official over 4 decades.

His Sturt FC achievements include:

  • 93 League Games – 1950-52, 1954, 1956-61
  • Player Life Member – 1962
  • Youngest person to play senior football for Sturt Football Club at 16 years, 6 months (before Angus Monfries eclipsed him in 2003)
  • Valued official and room steward 1962 – 1981, 1988 – 2002
  • SANFL Merit Award 1998
  • Brenton Miels Service Award 2000 – SFC
  • Australian Sports Medal 2000

Sunday 18th August is shaping up to be a great day so please encourage any Past Players to make the effort to come along for a beer and cheer the boys on in an important game against the Magpies.
