Dean Gore Retires

The Club wishes to advise that Dean Gore has retired from football due to ongoing knee issues relating to his last ACL injury.
Dean was emotional when advising the playing group at Tuesday’s training session. He wishes to thank the Club, members and supporters for their support.
Dean made his league debut for Sturt in 2014 as player # 1197 playing 12 games that season before being drafted to Geelong at pick #55 in the 2014 National Draft. He was traded to Adelaide in 2015 and played 39 games for their SANFL side. In 2019 he returned to play with Geelong’s VFL side before returning to Sturt in 2020. He has played a total of 57 SANFL games.
A Hahndorf local, Dean was part of Sturt’s junior talent pathway and was selected to represent South Australia in the 2014 Under 18 team.
Coach Marty Mattner said that Dean had given everything he had to get back to play but sadly his last ACL injury and subsequent rehabilitation had prevented him from doing so.
“Dean is a very popular member of the playing group. We are all hoping he stays involved at the Club.”
We wish Dean all the very best and thank him for his service to the Club.
