Premiership coach Marty Mattner has extended his coaching tenure at Sturt Football Club to the end of the 2024 season.
Mattner has again resurrected the team into a premiership force, currently sitting top of the SANFL ladder, and today extended his initial two-year deal.
Mattner’s coaching reputation speaks for itself taking the Double Blues to a flag in his first season as senior coach in 2016 and in 2017. After a coaching role with the Crows, the Club welcomed him back at the start of the 2021 season.
“I am really enjoying being back at Sturt. We have stuck with our plan to develop and promote talent from our pathway programs over mass recruiting. Pleasingly we are reaping the benefits of that strategy,” said Mattner.
President Jason Kilic is delighted to have Mattner put pen to paper on a two-year extension.
“Footy Clubs are a by-product of their people, and we are extremely fortunate in that regard. The Board is unanimous in its view that Marty is the right person to head coaching at the Club. Importantly Marty has the character and values we want in someone to lead our players,” said Kilic.
