2002 Magarey Medallist

In 2002, after a 26 year drought from premierships the Double Blues defeated Central District and for the first time from one club there were two Magarey Medallists in Jade Sheedy and Tim Weatherald.

JADE SHEEDY

The smooth moving and classy Sheedy played 255 games, kicked 117 goals, won the best and fairest four times, played in the 2002 premiership and captained the club for six years, including two as co-captain with Ben Nelson as well as making numerous appearances for the State, including being named State captain in 2008 and 2009 during his illustrious thirteen year career with the Double Blues between 2000 and 2012.

TIM WEATHERALD

Industrious midfielder Weatherald played 253 games and kicked 206 goals in a superb career for Sturt between 1995 and 2007, he was vice captain for seven years, a member of the 2002 premiership team and also won the club best and fairest in that same year and went on to play over 300 SANFL games after joining Norwood in a stellar career.
