Off-season Business Wrap

Many people have asked if the staff will be taking leave during the off-season.

For the Football Department including the players this is an ideal time to recharge and come back refreshed for a no doubt grueling pre season.

For the off field personnel we had about five minutes after the final siren on 24 September to relish the win before we gathered our senses and started to activate revenue generation strategies.

The opportunities winning a premiership presents must be capitalised upon immediately. For Clubs premierships can be few and far between. Being back-to-back premiers is an enviable position and we have to “make hay while the sun shines” so to speak.

So what are the Club’s revenue streams? Membership, Sponsorship, Fundraising, hospitality venue (BarZaar) and as of 1 November the Club took over the sale of its Merchandise.

Like any business we constantly are reviewing all areas of revenue generation. How can we improve? Are we delivering on expectation and can we exceed that expectation? What else can we do in a football environment
that is evolving faster than ever before seen?

We would encourage all of our supporters to support the Club through membership, sponsorship and/or fundraising. It costs a lot of money to run a SANFL Club especially if you want to remain successful and we make no apologies for the continued push to improve these revenue streams.

The admission of the AFL Clubs into the competition has meant that we need to ensure that we are keeping up with football trends. We simply do not have the resources to do this to the level of an AFL Club however as a pathway to the AFL we need to continually invest into our football programs to ensure that all our players, males and females, are provided with the best opportunity to play football at the highest level.

The Unley Oval Grandstand redevelopment project due to start by the end of the year and completed in 2018 has been designed to provide the best facilities for our players, coaches, members and supporters. Over the next few weeks you will start to see more about the project and how you can help this overdue upgrade that will take your Club from good to great.

This project will cap off the recent improvements to Unley Oval including picket fence, lighting and electronic scoreboard.

We are anxiously awaiting the SANFL draw for 2018 that we anticipate will be provided in early December. Once we have this information we can then finalise our event calendar to share with members and supporters.

We do know that we will be hosting the Grand Final rematch on ANZAC Day (25 April) and plans for that day are already underway.

Our business hours are Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm and you are always welcome to drop into the Club to buy membership and merchandise. Alternatively you can call the Club on 8271 4611 or order through our website www.sturtfc.com.au

Thank you for all the support you have shown in Season 2017. These last two years have been sensational and we need your support now more than ever to ensure that 2018 is the year that takes us from “good to great”.
