Hello Blues Supporters,
It was a huge week for the Sturt Football Club, coming off a great win in round 1 against Norwood, the boys had to again back up the win with another strong performance against the best side for the last decade, Central.
The ball was bounced and it was game on. The first half saw a lot of pressure from both sides, with skill errors and lots of undisciplined free kicks. We went into the first half 14 points up, with neither side being able to make a clean break.
At half time the boys rallied, and we new we had the fitness and structure to break the game open in the second half.
The second half saw the boys kick away to a convincing lead, only to have a lapse in concentration, and let Central back into the game. To the boys credit we were able to lift our intensity and work rate, to see us kick the last 4 goals and finish off the game 44 point victors.
After the game the boys were congratulated on a great win, however we realise we have to keep working hard on and off the track to be a consistent performer in the competition.
Special mentions go to Adam Thomson for another strong performance in the midfield and up forward. Andrew Whiteman was amazing with his strength at the ball and I’m just glad he’s on our side. Herring, Perrie and Chambers were great up forward with their pressure. Deluca and Feast were able to give the midfielders first use of the ball, while Nick Wark and James McLeay held things together down back. I still can’t believe these boys are 18 and 21.
Also congratulation to 'chicken' Patty Fittock for his first win with the club.
GREAT TEAM EFFORT
GO THE BLUES!

Hello Blues Supporters,
What a great night it was at the Parade for our Round
1 clash with Norwood. After coming off some good trial
match form against the Eagles, Centrals and Glenelg
the boys were ready for the real stuff. Norwood had
a lot of new recruits so we didnt really know
what to expect. We certainly got out of the blocks early
kicking 3 goals in the first 5 minutes but Norwood fought
back to kick three late goals. The second quarter was
also a bit of an arm wrestle but we could feel like
we were getting on top with our relentless pressure
at their ball carriers. In the second half we were able
to maintain that intensity as we kicked 7 goals to nothing
for a final winning margin of 60 points.
It certainly was a great team effort with players from
all areas of the ground working really hard for each
other. It was great to see the forwards not only providing
space for each other when we had the ball but what was
more pleasing to Rick was their pressure on the opposition
when they had the ball. The rucks and midfielders also
controlled a lot of stoppages and after quarter time
the backs gave the opponents nothing whilst providing
great run and support.
Specials mentions must go to the big Sarge Perrie for
his 6 on debut, Craig Evans, Adam Thomson and Jade Sheedy
for the great work on ball, Nick Wark and Andrew Whiteman
for their strength in defence and Charlie Sharples for
his numerous efforts in chasing down the opposition
as well as showing off his silky skills. Also, congratulations
must go to Jimmy egg Plant, Scooter McGlone
and Sarge Perrie for not only making their debut but
for their great contribution to the end result.
We thank you for the on going support and we look forward
to seeing you all at House Bros oval on Saturday as
we take on Centrals in what shapes up to be a great
game.
Go the Blues.
