After our historic win against Glenelg FC last week, our SANFLW team was brought back to earth with a big defeat to North Adelaide. Full credit to the Roosters as they were able to break away with a 31 point lead in the first quarter. With the Double Blues being down at quarter time, our playing group was encouraged to take the game on and continue using our kicking patterns. Unfortunately, North Adelaide were able to turn the ball over back in their favour close to home and scored well.

We continued to encourage our playing group to play the Sturt game style and in the last quarter we saw good ball movements and signs of our performances from weeks prior. The game ended with North being far too superior and beating our girls by 91 points. Players who performed well for us were Jess Foley, who again did well in the ruck. Caitlyn Swanson and Ellen Maple worked hard in the mid-field. Paxton Davis-Mattner and Shae Gundlach defended well and were able to win a lot of one on one contests.

Although the score board was disappointing and our playing group and support staff were dejected about the loss, we are seeing our playing group understand and being able to implement the Sturt game style better each week that they play. Unfortunately we let ourselves down with skill execution and defending on turn over. We move on from last weeks disappointing performance and turn our attention to Round 6 against West Adelaide Football Club.
