Match Report

All the experts were tipping a North Adelaide victory as they had beaten Sturt twice during the season and were the reigning dual Premiers, having won the flag in 1930 and 1931, but someone forgot to tell the Double Blues, as they more than matched it with the Roosters in the first quarter, leading by 13 points at quarter time. The second quarter was as the first, with Sturt going into the half time break with a handy 15 point lead, but then in the third quarter the Blues put on a real football show, completely outplaying the shocked Roosters, to kick 7.6 to one behind for the term. The last quarter saw North come back, but ultimately the Double Blues cruised to victory by 41 points, this Premiership was won because of a complete team effort, but if you had to name one Sturt player as best on ground, then in an unbelievable display, you would have to give it to Gordon ‘ Grassy’ Green who kicked an amazing 9 goals from only 10 shots for the day.
