1923 Magarey Medallist

Despite his small size, Riley was the Bagshaw of the 1920’s, a superb highflyer who made the game look easy and when he flew for a mark he excited the crowd to the extent that they would chant “Riley, Riley, Riley”.

He played 122 games and kicked 121 goals in the Double Blue and won the prestigous Magarey Medal while playing as a follower and half forward, he was also a member of the 1926 premiership team, captain in 1930 and an automatic State selection, he represented South Australia with distinction on twenty occasions.
